💸 Should BP⛽ be subject to a windfall tax? 💸

Hi everyone! The topic I found most interesting from today’s Daily was the discussion on whether BP should be subject to a windfall tax after BP’s profits hit $12.8bn last year – the highest level it has reached since 2013.

I personally believe that BP has made numerous net-zero commitments so far such as going net-zero by 2050 and reducing its oil and gas production by 40% by 2030. An additional tax on BP would be unjust as the transition to green energy would require a lot of investment.

What do you think? Do you agree with me or do you think that it is unfair for companies to profit while others are struggling with their gas bills? Do you think this is a politically motivated move to bring attention away from party-gate? Let us know!
