Further to this mornings Watson’s Daily, I would love to know your guys opinions on the EV charging stations story. With the Competition and Markets Authority raising fears that the UK will not be prepared ahead of a ban of petrol / diesel cars, I would love to hear peoples thoughts on the impact this may have on EV growth.

This would definitely limit growth but I feel optimistic as Ofgem has said they want to increase charging stations but at the moment, this would limit people buying EVs as they would have to live somewhere near a charging station – and that may be restricted to more urban areas. There’s also a risk of technologies being made redundant due to the innovation we are seeing in batteries that there could also be a hesitancy caused by that.

I was actually thinking that there may be more households with two cars – one EV and another petrol. Maybe if they already have a petrol car they just keep it rather than sell it and then buy an EV for those day-to-day needs. I would say that most of the trips I do are very short distance (a couple of miles perhaps?) but having a petrol just gives you peace of mind if you wanted to visit relatives/drive to Europe etc.
